Goal
Recovery
The peptides readers look up for recovery, and whether each can be prescribed or compounded in the U.S. today. Every status below names the FDA document it rests on.
Prescribable now
A short copy of the hormone that tells the pituitary to release growth hormone. Small 1990s studies show it raises growth hormone; none tested it against placebo for aging, body composition or sleep. Read the Sermorelin guide
Component of an FDA-approved drug (GEREF, sermorelin acetate). FDA determined in 2013 that GEREF was not withdrawn from sale for reasons of safety or effectiveness.

A copper-carrying peptide sold for skin and healing. It may be compounded only in non-injectable forms, and the human trials are about wounds, with mixed results. Read the GHK-Cu guide
"GHK-Cu (except for injectable routes of administration)" is in 503A Category 1 (list updated May 14, 2026). The injectable route is on no list.
Eligible only as: topical, nasal, oral, sublingual.

Sellers for recovery
The licensed telehealths we have reviewed that prescribe the peptides above for recovery. Each links to the seller and to our review of it.
Disclosure: This Peptide is reader-supported. No link on this site earns a commission today, so nothing here is a paid placement. How we make money.

Research only
These are not on an FDA list that allows compounding, or we have not yet read their status. We cover the research on them and link no seller.
BPC-157
Research only
On no 503A list (removed from Category 2 in April 2026, never in Category 1). The FDA's compounding advisory committee voted 8–6 (one abstention) in July 2026 to favor listing it; the vote is a recommendation, not binding on the FDA, and pharmacies may not compound it until final rulemaking.

Research on recovery
- BPC 157 and TB 500 Together: What Any Study Has Tested of the PairOne rat study tested the pair against each alone, and the combination added nothing. In people, the record is 4 survey patients and one FDA adverse-event report.
- BPC 157 Dosage: Why No Human Dose Exists, and What Studies UsedNo trial has set a human dose of BPC-157. Here is what the rat studies and three small human reports gave, and why none of it translates into a dose for a person.
- BPC-157: What Human Evidence Actually ExistsThirty-five animal and cell studies, and three small human reports with no control group. What each one measured, and what it did not.
- BPC-157 Side Effects: What Has Been Recorded in PeopleThree tiny uncontrolled reports found no adverse events. That is weaker than it sounds, and the FDA says it lacks the data to judge harm.
- GHK-Cu Side Effects: What Topical Studies Report, and the Injected UnknownsOnly two small trials have tested GHK-Cu alone on skin, and copper is a weak allergen. Injected GHK-Cu has no human safety record, and the FDA flags its risks.
- GHK-Cu: Copper Peptide Evidence, Topical Versus InjectedTwo small skin trials, no injection trials, and an FDA list that allows the peptide by every route except the needle. What each route has behind it.
- Peptides for Hair Growth: What the Trials ShowThe peptides sold for hair have small trials, all of blends. The best one found is 32 people using a peptide blend that matched 3% minoxidil.
- Peptides for Joint Pain: What Human Trials Exist, Compound by CompoundOral collagen peptides have randomized trials, with modest benefits and a high risk of bias. BPC-157 has one uncontrolled chart review, and TB-500 has none.
- Peptides for Muscle Growth: What Trials of GH Secretagogues MeasuredDrugs that raise growth hormone added about a kilogram of lean mass in randomized trials. Strength mostly stayed the same, and blood sugar went up.
- Peptides for Skin: Which Ones Have Human TrialsCream peptides, copper peptide and swallowed collagen are three different things. One has a 93-person split-face trial, one has two small trials, and one has 26.
- TB-500: What Is Known, and What Has Never Been TestedA seven-amino-acid fragment with no human data, borrowing its reputation from small trials of the full protein. What each study actually used.
