AskRx

A physician-messaging service for brand-name Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo that prints every dose ladder, but tells two different stories about who fills the prescription.

Review by Leah Garner, clinical-evidence editor · Updated October 2026

The short version

The prescribing scope is narrow and stated plainly: FDA-approved brand-name drugs only, each with its printed dose ladder. The prescribers are never named beyond a job title. The bigger gap is the pharmacy. The home page says AskRx dispenses through its own pharmacy at cost. The terms say AskRx does not dispense or operate a pharmacy, and that medication is paid to an outside one.

AskRx is a cash-pay telehealth service run by AskRx LLC, a Wyoming company based in Cheyenne. Its only live program is weight loss, with mental health, sexual health and hormone therapy marked as coming soon. It prescribes four brand-name products: the Wegovy pen, the Wegovy pill, the Zepbound KwikPen and Foundayo tablets. The FAQ states that its physicians never prescribe compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide. Care is a flat $100 monthly fee, with the medication billed on top.

The Wegovy pen holds semaglutide, a weekly injection on a five-step ladder from 0.25 to 2.4 mg. The Zepbound KwikPen holds tirzepatide, weekly, with four doses a month, on a six-step ladder from 2.5 to 15 mg. The Wegovy pill is daily oral semaglutide from 1.5 to 25 mg. Foundayo is a daily orforglipron tablet from 0.8 to 17.2 mg. A new patient starts at the bottom step: $199 of medication for Wegovy 0.25 mg, $299 for Zepbound 2.5 mg, and $149 for either tablet. The $100 care fee is added to each. Higher steps cost more: the dose check prints $349 of medication for Wegovy at 1 mg or 2.4 mg, and $449 for Zepbound at 7.5 mg or 15 mg.

Each “From” figure is the seller’s own starting price, in the unit the seller states. Where a required fee or a package length changes what one month costs, the smaller line under it is our arithmetic, not a figure the seller prints. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved.

Who prescribes

A licensed clinician

The home page describes board-certified physicians trained in obesity medicine, and promises a dedicated MD who knows your history. The site names no physician, and no medical group or professional entity either. The terms say only that prescribing decisions rest with the treating physician. Nothing on the site says how the physicians are contracted, or whether a nurse practitioner or physician assistant may treat you. The site's two accounts of who fills the prescription are set out under claims.

You answer a five-minute health profile and may upload existing labs or records. A dose check then recommends a starting step: for someone new to GLP-1 drugs, the lowest dose of the chosen product. Your initial consultation is held by interactive messaging, and video visits are offered in select states as needed. The terms call the model primarily asynchronous. The FAQ says most patients finish intake and the first consultation within 48 hours. After a prescription, the plan is monthly titration reviews, with dose changes based on response and side effects. Messaging with your physician is unlimited, at no extra fee.

Are labs required?

Upload optional

Bloodwork is not required. The intake invites you to upload labs or records you already have, and no page mentions ordering new tests or charging for them.

What it claims, and what it cites

The claim that matters most concerns the pharmacy. The home page says your medication is dispensed through our own pharmacy, at cost, with no markup. The footer softens that to an affiliated pharmacy. The terms say AskRx does not dispense, sell or ship medication and does not operate a pharmacy. They name NovoCare for Wegovy, LillyDirect for Zepbound, or a retail pharmacy you choose. The terms also say the site's medication prices are based on publicly available self-pay offers. The second error is pharmacological. The Foundayo card labels the tablet tirzepatide, a dual GIP/GLP-1 agonist, and the FAQ calls it oral tirzepatide. The approved Foundayo tablet contains orforglipron, a different molecule that acts on the GLP-1 receptor alone. The Zepbound card cites exceptional clinical trial results without naming a trial. The home page also claims 24/7 doctor access. The messaging promise is narrower: you can reach your doctor anytime, with no stated reply time.

How it bills

The headline reads $90 a month, and a footnote adds a $10 fulfillment fee, so care costs $100 a month. Medication is billed separately. At the starting step, the dose check totals $299 for the Wegovy pen, $399 for Zepbound and $249 for either tablet, each billed monthly. The medication line is not fixed. The FAQ says it varies by medication and dose. A patient already at Wegovy 2.4 mg would pay $449 a month in all, and one at Zepbound 15 mg $549. The terms mention quarterly and semi-annual plans, but no price for either appears on the site. You can cancel at any time from account settings or by email. Messaging continues to the end of the paid period, and active prescriptions stay valid at the pharmacy. Fees are generally non-refundable. A refund can be requested within seven days of the first purchase, before any physician consultation. Price increases carry 30 days' notice. Insurance is not billed, though the FAQ says the care fee may be HSA or FSA eligible.

Frequently asked questions

Who fills an AskRx prescription?
The site gives two answers. The home page says AskRx dispenses through its own pharmacy. The terms say it runs no pharmacy and sends prescriptions to NovoCare, LillyDirect or a retail pharmacy you choose.
Will I see a doctor by video?
Usually not. The first consultation is by interactive messaging, and video visits are offered in select states as needed.
Is Foundayo oral tirzepatide?
No. AskRx's product card says so, but the approved Foundayo tablet contains orforglipron, a different molecule.
What does a first month cost at AskRx?
For a new patient, $299 for the Wegovy pen, $399 for Zepbound and $249 for either tablet. Each total is the starting-dose medication plus the $100 care fee.
